What Happens in Each School?

Collaboration: School Social Workers (SSWs) meet with LevelUp Kids staff each year to determine program availability and scheduling.
Family Outreach: Notifications are sent to all families within each participating school to announce that our dental and vision teams are coming soon.
Support for Families: SSWs help identify families who qualify for services and assist them with completing the required registration forms.
Accessible Registration: We offer a convenient, paperless online registration process, with both online and paper forms available in multiple languages.
Coordination: SSWs collaborate with our staff to create appointment schedules, notify teachers, and coordinate the arrival and departure of students for their appointments.

Our portable dental equipment is transported in our van to each school.
Schools provide a room for our team to use for approximately two to three weeks during our stay.
Each patient who signs up receives a comprehensive exam, x-rays, cleaning, and fluoride treatment. From there, a treatment plan is created, and the majority of treatment can be completed on-site.
Families receive calls and letters updating them on their child’s dental care.
If any treatment cannot be completed at school, a follow-up appointment is offered at our office.
Families also receive reminders for six-month checkups to encourage continued care and good oral health habits.

Our Vision Techs visit schools to conduct screenings for students in mandated grades.
Based on screening results, our staff identifies children who need a comprehensive eye exam and sends a registration form home.
Children who meet income guidelines receive a free, on-site eye exam on our Mobile Vision Clinic—without needing to leave school.
If a child needs glasses, they get to choose their frames during their exam.
Their new glasses arrive in ~ 7-10 business days and are fitted and dispensed at school to ensure a perfect fit.
