What Happens in Each School?
School social workers (SSW) meet with LevelUp Kids’ staff to determine their annual availability.
Notification is sent to all families in each school that our dental and vision teams are coming soon
SSWs identify families who qualify and help them complete the required paperwork.
We offer a paperless online registration process.
Online and paper forms are also offered in multiple languages.
SSWs partner with our staff to create the students’ appointment schedule, notify teachers, and coordinate the arrival and departure of students.
How Miles of Smiles Operates
Portable equipment and supplies are stored in special suitcases.
Our van transports our team and equipment to each school.
Schools provide a room for the dental equipment and staff to use for approximately two-to-three weeks.
We use schools’ electricity while providing our own water source.
Comprehensive treatment is provided at the school by a licensed dentist and dental assistants. Families will receive information regarding their Childs dental care. Patients whose treatment is not completed at the school will receive a call to schedule the patient for any follow up appointments at our office.
how icare4kids operates
Our Vision Techs visit schools to conduct screenings for students in mandated grades.
Based on screening results, our staff identifies children who need a comprehensive eye exam and sends a registration form home.
Children who meet income guidelines receive a free, on-site eye exam on our Mobile Vision Clinic—without needing to leave school.
If a child needs glasses, they get to choose their frames during their exam.
Their new glasses arrive in ~ 7-10 business days and are fitted and dispensed at school to ensure a perfect fit.
